US-Canada trade war

Canada has declared an "economic war" against the United States after failed negotiations over tariffs.

Canada suspended all trade talks with the US after directly rejecting Trump’s trade deal, saying it will impose retaliatory tariffs on 20 billion dollars worth of US goods.

The move comes as Trump has openly floated the idea of absorbing Canada as the US 51st state, pairing the threat with punishing tariffs.

In this episode, Spotlight looks at the latest developments and consequences of the US-Canada trade war.
