Conditions for reopening Hormuz
The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council says the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until the US corrects its behavior. Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr said Washington must stop threatening Iran and refrain from insulting the sacred beliefs of the nation. He said the US must permanently end aggression against Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen and Iraq. The top security official also demanded the lifting of the naval blockade, withdrawal of US military forces from around Iran and removal of the unjust and illegal sanctions on the country. The statement further listed full compensation for the damage caused to Iran by the two imposed wars and unconditional release of Tehran’s frozen assets. Zolqadr noted these measures reflect the demands voiced by the Iranian people in the nightly rallies and stressed that the SNSC will not back down whether in war or in negotiations.
US MOU violations
Iranian president says Tehran took reciprocal action after the US violated the MOU, stressing that the Islamic Republic will continue to defend its interests while pursuing diplomacy. In a press conference marking Journalists' Day, Masoud Pezeshkian said the memorandum of understanding did not involve any concessions by Iran or any withdrawal from the country’s national interests. The Iranian president said that, under the agreement, the parties were expected to operate based on guidelines jointly prepared by Iran and Oman for managing issues related to the Strait of Hormuz. However, he said the other side failed to follow those arrangements. Pezeshkian also said dialogue has not altered Tehran’s long-standing position toward Washington and Iran still believes US government is a colonialist and criminal entity.
Israel's Lebanon aggression
The Israeli regime continues attacks across southern Lebanon despite a so-called ceasefire. Artillery shelling targeted several districts in Nabatieh and Tyre. Homes were also demolished in the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiya in Nabatieh. This is while Israeli occupation forces advanced toward an area on the outskirts of Kfar Shuba. Meanwhile, the Israeli Army Radio reported that a soldier from the 607th Engineering Battalion was wounded by shrapnel from friendly fire in Nabatieh. Israeli media also reported a soldier was moderately injured in an operational accident in southern Lebanon. These violations are ongoing despite a US-mediated framework agreement that was signed between Lebanon and Israel in late June, requiring a phased Israeli withdrawal.
