Iran warns enemies
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps warns countries assisting US aggression against Iran of a severe response unless they change their behavior. The IRGC also announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as the US continues its threats and interference in maritime movements in the region. It stressed that the strategic waterway is Iranian territory and remains under its full control, vowing swift punishment for any aggressor and any foreign forces interfering. The IRGC said two oil tankers, guided by US aircraft, attempted to leave the designated unsafe route south of the Strait of Hormuz last night. It said after one of the vessels caught fire, both tankers were forced to turn back.
Russia-Ukraine war
At least seven people have been killed in a fresh wave of Russian missile attacks on Ukraine, as the war between the two neighboring countries shows no signs of easing. Six people, including two children, were killed after Russian ballistic missiles hit the central city of Kryvyi Rih. Eight others were also injured in the strikes. An attack also targeted the capital Kiev, leaving one person dead and two others wounded. The strikes came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Moscow was preparing a massive attack in a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House. Ukraine also attacked several targets inside Russia overnight. A drone strike on a warehouse of an online retailer in the western city of Penza left one person injured.
Japan earthquake
The death toll from a powerful earthquake in southwestern Japan rises to over 30 as search and rescue operations to find survivors continue. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced the latest fatalities, saying that the figure included people whose deaths are still under investigation to determine whether they were directly related to the earthquake. The seven-point-one magnitude quake hit the Kumamoto prefecture late Tuesday afternoon. Dozens of people have been injured, and nine thousand people have been displaced. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said Wednesday that every second counts as thousands of military personnel were mobilized to reach those who are trapped.
