Trump approval rating hits new low as majority oppose US war on Iran
US President Donald Trump's approval rating has hit a new low as a majority of Americans oppose the unprovoked US war on Iran.
A new Quinnipiac University national poll released on Wednesday found growing opposition to the war.
The poll found that 60 percent of voters oppose the war against Iran, while only 34 percent support it. Even fewer, 32 percent, approve of Trump's overall performance.
Opposition was highest among Democrats at 89 percent, followed by independents at 69 percent, while 74 percent of Republicans supported the war.
Only nineteen percent of voters support sending US ground troops to invade Iran, while 74 percent oppose it.
Fifty-five percent said they believe the US war on Iran will last about a year or longer, while 35 percent said they believe the aggression will last longer.
Fifty-four percent said they believe American troops are being defeated in the war, while 36 percent said they believe the US is winning.
Trump's approval ratings were negative across all areas, including the economy, foreign policy, trade and immigration.
The poll surveyed 963 registered voters nationwide from July 23 to 27.
Americans remain especially sour on the economy, posing a risk to Trump and Republicans in the midterm elections, now less than 100 days away.
Confidence in the economy fell this month as gas prices resumed their climb following the escalation of the war on Iran.
