Iran slams US, Israel, Argentina for voting against key UN counterterrorism resolutions

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei

Iran has strongly condemned the United States, Israel, and Argentina for repeatedly voting against key United Nations resolutions on counterterrorism and other international crimes, saying their voting record exposes a stark contradiction between their rhetoric and actions.

Speaking on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the United States, Israel, and Argentina have consistently opposed UN General Assembly resolutions aimed at strengthening international efforts to combat terrorism, human trafficking, and other serious crimes.

In a post on X, he pointed to several resolutions adopted by overwhelming majorities over the past year that were opposed only by the United States, Israel, and Argentina.

“Just a hint at what is what and who is who: UNGA resolution on Global Counter-TERRORISM Strategy was adopted by an overwhelming majority on 1 July 2026. Only 3 voted against: Israel, US, Argentina,” he said.

Baghaei also noted that the three opposed a UN General Assembly resolution declaring the transatlantic slave trade “a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY,” adopted on March 25, 2026.

He added that the United States, Israel, and Argentina likewise voted against resolutions on “countering TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS” and “TERRORISM AND HUMAN RIGHTS,” both adopted on December 18, 2025, with overwhelming support in the UN General Assembly.

Concluding his remarks, the diplomat questioned the credibility of the trio’s purported commitment to human rights and counterterrorism, asking, “Aren’t they revealing?”

Baghaei stressed that their repeated isolation in UN votes on major international issues speaks for itself and underscores the widening gap between their professed principles and their actions on the global stage.
