China’s rise, Iran ties fuel global shift challenging US hegemony: Analysts
In this interview, political analysts Saeb Shaath and John Bosnitch discuss the emerging shift in the global order, arguing that China’s economic rise and expanding partnerships with Iran are challenging US dominance and reshaping global power dynamics.
Bosnitch argues that China’s rapid industrial and economic development has enabled it to out-compete the United States, project greater regional influence, and defend its trade ties with Iran, despite US sanctions.
He attributes Washington’s view of China as an adversary to its loss of economic advantage, contrasting China’s economic model with the social costs of US-led capitalism.
Shaath, meanwhile, sees China’s rise as part of a broader transition away from US hegemony, emphasizing Beijing’s preference for trade, investment, and economic partnerships over military intervention.
He argues that China’s growing ties with Iran through BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, alongside shared opposition to foreign military interventionism, are helping establish a new regional security architecture and further diminishing US influence.
