Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has warned that any US interference in the Strait of Hormuz will trigger a swift and decisive response from the country's armed forces, stressing that the strategic waterway falls under Iran's sovereign authority.
In a statement on Thursday, the operational headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Armed Forces reaffirmed Tehran's sovereignty over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, warning the United States against any attempt to interfere in its security.
“The Strait of Hormuz is not a playground for the aggressive United States; rather, it falls under the indisputable sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The security and stability of this vital waterway are a red line for the powerful Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the military command said.
The warning comes weeks after a US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran, during which Iranian armed forces launched powerful retaliatory strikes and imposed restrictions on traffic through the strategic waterway before a ceasefire and a fragile memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington eased tensions.
The 14-article MoU, among others, requires the lifting of the wartime restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy corridor, provided that the US and its allies fully cease their military aggression against Iran and its regional allies, including Lebanon.
“All oil tankers and commercial vessels are required to use the routes designated by Iran for any safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz,” Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters further warned.
“Any failure to comply, any deviation from the designated routes, or any disregard for the navigation protocols of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz will be met with the immediate and powerful response of the Armed Forces and will endanger the safety of the violating vessels,” the Headquarters vowed.
Iran’s highest operational command unit warned the US against any attempt to intervene in the security of the Strait, saying such actions would be treated as an attack on Iran's sovereignty.
“Any attempt by the United States to interfere in security affairs or undertake any disruptive action in the Strait of Hormuz will be regarded as a threat to Iran's national sovereignty and will be met with a swift and decisive response,” the statement further stressed.
Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters further emphasized that continued US military activity in the area threatens regional stability.
“The continued presence of US aircraft, whether manned or unmanned, over the Strait of Hormuz undermines the security of this waterway and jeopardizes the security of the region,” it stressed.
Reaffirming Iran's determination to defend its territorial rights, the Headquarters maintained that “Iran will spare no effort to crush any act of aggression or violation by the US military and its supporters in defending its sovereign rights over the Strait of Hormuz.”
