More than 80 people have been arrested on suspicion of collecting intelligence from Israeli military bases, says a former senior military intelligence security official of the Tel Aviv regime.

Israeli military radio on Wednesday reported that Israel's internal security agencies have detained more than 80 individuals suspected of gathering intelligence from military installations.

Citing the unnamed former head of the Israeli military’s so-called Information Security Department, the report said that during the recent 40-day war of aggression against Iran, “more than 30 security investigations were launched to identify military personnel who leaked photographs and information.”

Presenting the findings at a professional conference, the official - identified only as Colonel G. – stressed that the high number of probes launched would normally accumulate over an entire decade.

“To date, Israel's internal security agency, Shin Bet, has arrested more than 80 people who were roaming inside Israeli military bases and collecting information,” the former Israeli official further said.

He added that soldiers repeatedly disclosed sensitive information by posting their locations and battlefield photos on social media, with security breaches continuing despite repeated warnings and corrective measures.

He said the Israeli military and the Shin Bet also conducted a parallel counterintelligence campaign against suspected espionage networks, describing the intelligence-gathering activity as an organized espionage effort carried out by operatives inside Israel under the direction of what he described as hostile foreign actors.

The report comes after The Times of Israel said Israeli security forces had arrested a 20-year-old American citizen living in the occupied al-Quds, alleging that he had carried out espionage activities on behalf of Iran.

According to the report, the suspect is expected to face an indictment on charges of spying.
