Yemen's Ansarullah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi has congratulated Iran on a "great victory" over the United States and Israel, praising Tehran's resilience and pledging unwavering support as he addressed mass Ashura commemorations in Sanaa.
"The great victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the enemies of the Islamic nation is a significant victory for the entire axis of jihad and resistance in an important round of confrontation," al-Houthi said on Thursday.
The Ansarullah leader said the June 17 memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States is a strategic triumph for the resistance axis, asserting that Tehran has emerged stronger despite "heavy costs".
Al-Houthi said the Yemeni people draw strength "from faith, the light of the Qur’an, and the steadfastness of Imam Hussein (AS) against tyranny, regardless of the magnitude of sacrifices."
The Yemeni city of Saada witnessed a massive popular gathering on Thursday to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), with crowds pouring into the province to express their connection to the values and principles of the Imam Hussein revolution.
“The school of Ashura is the school of sacrifice, salvation, and love of God, embodied in Imam Hussein and his companions, and people must draw inspiration from it," Allama Shams al-Din Sharaf al-Din, Yemen's Grand Mufti, told the gathering.
Sharaf al-Din directly addressed the US-led war on Iran, saying: "Trump in his war against Iran seeks victory and delusion. What brought him to the negotiating table were the missiles and the culture of jihad and martyrdom embodied in the axis of jihad and resistance.”
“We call on our people to join the Al-Aqsa Flood courses and prepare for jihad against the enemies and for sacrifice, just like Imam Hussein," he said, referring to a network of mandatory military training programs in Yemen named after the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
Organizers praised the massive turnout, which they said reflected a high level of awareness and deep connection to Imam Hussein's cause, emphasizing that his message remains alive in the conscience of the Islamic nation.
Houthi said, “The goals of the leaders of disbelief – America, Israel, and Zionism – and their actions against the Palestinian people and our nation show they are absolute evil for all human societies."
"There is no way to save from the group of Satan except by confronting their tyranny. The responsibility of the Islamic nation is jihad, commanding good and forbidding evil," al-Houthi added.
The Ansarullah leader said Yemen is closely monitoring Israeli moves in Somalia's breakaway region of Somaliland, warning that Israel is seeking to gain a foothold near the strategic Bab al-Mandeb strait to control the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
"We are closely monitoring the situation in Somaliland and the enemy's actions aimed at controlling the Gulf of Aden, Bab al-Mandeb, and dominating the Red Sea," al-Houthi said.
"We call on Red Sea littoral states to adopt a unified stance against the enemy's activities, and we will not remain passive in the face of Israeli movements in Somaliland. We will crush Israeli movements in Somaliland at the appropriate time," he warned.
The remarks come after Israel – itself an illegal entity - announced in December 2025 that it had officially recognized Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state. Reports have emerged suggesting Israel could deploy submarines to Somaliland's coast, intensifying geopolitical rivalry in the Horn of Africa.
Al-Houthi called for support for Somalia against Israeli provocations, describing them as "a violation of Somalia's sovereignty and a danger to the region".
He also reaffirmed Yemen will continue supporting Gaza, saying: "We will not hesitate in carrying out our duty in any new escalation of aggression in any arena, especially Gaza."
Al-Houthi insisted that Yemen will not accept the continuation of "American-Saudi aggression, occupation and siege".
"We will not accept the continuation of American-Saudi aggression, occupation and blockade on our country. We will act with all legitimate means so that our people may enjoy full freedom, complete independence, live with dignity, and restore their national wealth," he said.
He called for a united Yemeni stance, strengthening the internal front, maintaining the spirit of general mobilization, and continued participation in military training courses and social initiatives.
"Yemen's strength and its pivotal role in supporting the nation's causes derive from the stability of its internal front and its capacity for steadfastness and sacrifice," he added.
The Saudi-led coalition has imposed an air, land and sea blockade on Yemen since March 2015, triggering what the United Nations has described as one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. The United States has provided intelligence, logistical support and arms sales throughout the conflict.
