The Secretary General of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah says the US-Israeli project to finish off Iran and its allied resistance forces in the region has bitterly failed.
Delivering a televised speech on Sunday, Sheikh Naim Qassem said that Iran has emerged stronger from a US-Israeli war of aggression on its territory and regional allies, despite being subjected to a massive aerial bombardment campaign that lasted for more than a month.
“Israel and others must admit that they were pursuing a project to put an end to Iran, Hezbollah, and the resistance across the entire region, but this project failed,” said Sheikh Qassem.
The Hezbollah chief said that the region is facing a new chapter in its history as a result of the failure of the American-Israeli project and its consequences.
Further in his speech, Sheikh Qassem praised Iran for its massive support for Lebanon both during and after the US-Israeli aggression, saying Iran mobilized its capabilities, sacrifices, and capacities to “defend Lebanon, its independence, its resistance, and its people”.
The senior Lebanese cleric said that the fact that the very first clause of a memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the US includes conditions for an end to the war on Lebanon shows that Iran is very sensitive about the fate of the Arab country and its people.
He called on the Lebanese government to use the opportunity created by Iranian-imposed peace in Lebanon to vindicate the rights of the Lebanese people in their struggle against Israeli aggression.
The Hezbollah chief warned that the group would not tolerate the continued presence of Israeli forces in southern territories of Lebanon, saying Hezbollah would deliver proper responses to any new act of aggression by the Israeli regime.
