Iran’s army: Any violation of MoU will be met with swift response

Iran’s army spokesperson General Mohammad Akrami-Nia

The spokesperson of the Iranian Army has stated that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will maintain the highest level of readiness and systematically strengthen defensive and deterrent capabilities as the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States is implemented, issuing a stern warning that any violation will trigger an immediate and powerful reversal to pre-agreement conditions.

“We will maintain the level of readiness of the armed forces more than ever before” and “increase our defence capabilities during the agreement period,” General Mohammad Akrami-Nia said in an interview with IRIB News on Monday evening.

“We have complete distrust in the enemy. We are facing an enemy that has twice bombed the negotiation table and stabbed diplomacy in the back from behind. Therefore, we have no trust in this enemy, and just as during the ceasefire period, we will seriously pursue the path of strengthening our defensive and deterrent power,” he added.

The spokesperson emphasized that while the Islamic Republic supports any understanding or agreement that serves the interests of the Iranian nation, enforcing the enemy’s commitments requires power and vigilance.

“If the enemy violates the provisions of the agreement or memorandum of understanding, we will quickly and forcefully return the military situation in the region to the conditions before the agreement and once again make the enemy regret its action,” he stressed.

He added that repeated violations would result in even greater defeat, regret, and humiliation for the aggressors. “In case of repetition of the mistake, the enemy will suffer even greater defeat, regret, and humiliation.”

The spokesperson highlighted the recent victories in the 12-day and 40-day imposed wars, noting that these conflicts have significantly boosted the confidence of Iran’s armed forces, enhanced coordination among them, and accelerated domestic production of advanced missiles and drones, achievements that continued uninterrupted even under intense pressure.

He praised the spirit of sacrifice and heroism displayed by Iranian forces, which forced the US and the Zionist regime to accept Iran’s conditions after failing to achieve any of their planned objectives.

The spokesperson made it clear that Iran’s armed forces have not only defended the homeland but also protected the Muslim people of the region and thwarted the “Greater Israel” project pursued by the US and the Zionist entity.

“By resisting, the Islamic Republic has changed the equations in the region in favor of the resistance front,” he said.

The remarks came after the secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) early on Monday confirmed that Tehran and Washington have finalized the text of an MoU on ending the imposed war, bringing an immediate and permanent halt to US-Israeli hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, and terminating the US naval blockade against Iran.

Highlighting the pivotal role of the Iranian people, Akrami-Nia continued: “The main factor in the success and victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the people. The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are people’s armed forces, and in the Army’s law, being people-oriented is stipulated as one of the main characteristics of this institution.”

“Being people-oriented is the most important factor in the power of the armed forces. The enemy, which in the first days of the war spoke of the unconditional surrender of the Islamic Republic of Iran, today has been forced to accept the conditions of the Iranian nation. This success is owed, more than anything else, to the steadfastness, resistance, and presence of the Iranian people,” he added.

Referring to the extensive presence of the people in night rallies across Iran, the army spokesperson said, “The people of Iran, during 106 consecutive nights of continuous presence in the country’s streets, by supporting the defenders of security and defending the homeland, played an important role in maintaining security and boosting the morale of the fighters. This popular presence was a great support for the armed forces and increased our motivation and will to stand against the enemy.”

The illegal US-Israeli aggression on Iran began on February 28. In response, the Iranian armed forces targeted sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets throughout the region and restricted transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

On April 8, forty days into the war, an Islamabad-brokered ceasefire went into effect. However, the first round of Tehran-Washington negotiations failed to reach an agreement, with the latter imposing an inhumane “naval blockade” of Iran.

Meanwhile, both the United States and Israel violated the temporary truce, prompting Iran to launch retaliatory strikes and close the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels.
