Pakistan's Interior Minister is scheduled to travel to Iran as part of ongoing diplomatic consultations to mediate between Tehran and Washington aimed at permanently ending the war US-Israeli war of aggression against the Islamic Republic.
Mohsin Naqvi is set to travel to Tehran on Saturday as diplomatic consultations continue regarding mediation between Tehran and Washington amid regional tensions.
Over the past 48 hours, Naqvi held talks twice with Iran's Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, on the sidelines of an international conference in Kyrgyzstan.
Although no official announcement has yet been issued by the Pakistani government, according to sources close to the Interior Minister's delegation, Naqvi returned to Lahore after his trip to Kyrgyzstan and is now expected to depart for Tehran.
Naqvi has previously met with high-ranking Iranian officials during his earlier visits to Iran, including the President, the Speaker of Parliament, the Foreign Minister, and the Interior Minister.
Those consultations were largely aimed at facilitating regional dialogue, reducing tensions between Iran and the United States, and managing regional security developments.
In this context, some analysts believe that Naqvi's new visit to Iran continues the same diplomatic path that Islamabad has pursued in recent months through mediation and facilitation of regional communications.
According to observers, Pakistan's role in these processes is seen as part of the country's broader strategy to strengthen its diplomatic standing and help reduce regional tensions.
The US and Israel started the aggression against Iran on February 28, some eight months after they carried out unprovoked attacks on the country.
Iran began to swiftly retaliate against the strikes by launching a barrage of missiles and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as on US bases in regional countries.
On April 8, forty days into the war, a Pakistan-brokered temporary ceasefire between Iran and the US took effect. However, tensions remain high as the US has imposed a blockade against Iranian ports in violation of the ceasefire.
