IRGC says peace in West Asia impossible until Israel is 'wiped out'

Mohammed Odeh (L), the newly appointed commander of Hamas's military wing, was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City on May 26, 2026, while his predecessor, Ezzeddin al-Haddad (Abu Suhaib), had been killed in an Israeli strike on the same neighborhood on May 15.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has strongly condemned the Israeli assassination of two senior commanders of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the besieged Gaza Strip, warning that the West Asian region will not see peace or security unless the Israeli regime is fully removed.

In a statement released on Thursday, the IRGC said the region “will not experience peace until this child-killing and evil regime is wiped off the face of the earth.”

The IRGC denounced the assassination of Mohammed Odeh who was killed along with his wife and three children in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City, and Ezzeddin al-Haddad (Abu Suhaib), a senior commander of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, who had fought the Zionists for nearly four decades.

Their deaths, the statement said, “once again revealed the predatory and devilish nature of the Zionist regime.”

The IRGC asserted that the commanders’ assassinations would not weaken the resistance but would instead reinforce “the continuation of the struggle until the liberation of Palestine and the Holy Quds.”

Israel assassinated Odeh, the newly appointed commander of Hamas’s military wing, in a large airstrike on Gaza City. Hamas confirmed his death on Wednesday, describing him as a key figure within the al-Qassam Brigades.

Odeh had assumed his new role only days earlier, following the assassination of his predecessor, al-Haddad, in an Israeli strike on the same neighborhood on May 15. Al-Haddad was killed alongside his wife, daughter, and several others.

The statement also criticized the so-called peace plan for the blockaded Palestinian territory announced earlier this year by US President Donald Trump, calling it ineffective and harmful.

“The so-called peace plans that the evil and gambling president of America talks about are nothing but killing, murder, and terror,” it said.

The IRGC statement slammed the United States and its Western allies for unconditional support for Israel.

It said the decades-long record of Israeli actions “has once again revealed the truth to the entire world, especially those who claim to defend human rights and the freedom of nations.”

The statement reaffirmed Iran’s full support for the axis of resistance and underscored the IRGC’s determination to confront the occupiers of al-Quds.
