Lying about war: How Trump's clumsy propaganda benefits the few

The panel discusses how the Trump administration's disinformation about the war against Iran is notably crude and low-quality — what Mexicans call chafa — contrasting sharply with the sophisticated psychological warfare historically waged by the US since World War I.

While the Pentagon and agencies like DARPA deploy advanced technological and media strategies, Trump's personal lies are amateurish and transparent.

The guests argue that the real purpose of the war is to benefit Israeli expansionism and enrich Trump's inner circle, including his sons' drone companies and fracking billionaires who profit when oil prices spike.

They highlight that the war has already cost US taxpayers 29 billion officially, with an unprecedented 1.5 trillion military budget requested for 2027 to cover hidden costs.

Despite the American public's self-image as pacifist, the US economy runs on war, and Trump manipulates markets and public opinion through timed statements and insider trading.

Iran, meanwhile, has responded with surprisingly sophisticated counter-propaganda, including Lego-style animations that rally global resistance.

The panel concludes that Trump's blatant lies are necessary to hide the war's true costs and beneficiaries, especially before the midterm elections, because if voters understood the corruption, they might end the MAGA movement's political future.
