China has issued a strong condemnation of a recent visit by some Knesset members to Taiwan, calling their actions "despicable" and warning that there will be a " price " for crossing China’s red lines.

The Chinese Embassy in occupied territories said on Wednesday that the visit by Boaz Toporovsky, a member of the Yesh Atid party, and several other Knesset members included "erroneous remarks regarding the Taiwan question" that seriously violated the one-China principle.

China has sovereignty over Taiwan, and under the "One China" policy, almost all countries recognize that sovereignty.

The 1992 China-Israel Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations explicitly states that Israel recognizes the People's Republic of China as "the sole legal government representing the whole of China and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the territory of the People's Republic of China," noted the embassy.

The Zionist lawmakers have colluded "with 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces, the embassy spokesperson said, adding that they have been "provoking confrontation across the Taiwan Strait."

"Their actions are despicable," the spokesperson said, adding that Beijing views separatist activities by Taiwan authorities as "the greatest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait."

China warned the lawmakers to "immediately cease their erroneous words and deeds," emphasizing they should "not underestimate the firm resolve of the Chinese government and the Chinese people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity."

"Do not believe that one can cross red lines on the Taiwan question without paying any price," warned the spokesperson.

China has consistently maintained it "will never allow anyone, in any form, to separate Taiwan from China, nor will it allow any external forces to obstruct China's reunification," added the mission.
