Expulsion of arrogant powers from Persian Gulf coming soon: IRGC

A billboard depicting a damaged US aircraft carrier with disabled fighter jets on its deck and a sign reading in Farsi and English, "If you sow the wind, you'll reap the whirlwind," is seen at Enqelab-e-Eslami (Islamic Revolution) Square in Tehran, Jan. 25, 2026.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned that the Persian Gulf cannot be secured through the presence of "arrogant and hegemonic powers," adding that "in the near future, with the expulsion of America and foreigners from the region, the hope of nations will be realized."

In a statement marking Persian Gulf National Day, the IRGC said the waterway's security must be achieved through "prudence, collective wisdom and the active participation of Gulf states without the presence of foreigners and hegemonic powers."

"The Persian Gulf, under the influence of the U.S.-Zionist imposed war and the wicked, filthy, gambling tyranny of the White House, now stands at a historic point," the IRGC said in the statement.

The IRGC hit out at Washington for igniting the 41-day "Ramadan War" and imposing a "brutal aggression" on the Iranian nation, while dragging southern Persian Gulf states into insecurity.

"The hidden and open policies of warmongering America and international Zionism have obstructed the role-playing and participation born from the trust, brotherhood and solidarity emphasized in Islamic culture," the statement added.

The IRGC, whose navy is tasked with securing the Strait of Hormuz, reiterated its commitment to "managing and controlling the Strait" which it described the "economic, energy and communications lifeline" of the region and safeguarding Iran's legitimate rights.

"The glorious and powerful navy of the IRGC will spare no effort in enhancing its capabilities to implement sovereign policies and protect the rights of Iranians in this critical arena," it said.

The IRGC, in its message, paid tribute to martyrs of past confrontations with the United States, naming "Admiral Alireza Tangsiri and the brave commander Nader Mahdavi and other martyrs of the battle with the aggressive America."

"The course of events shows that in the near future, with the expulsion of America and foreigners from the region, the hope and expectation of the nations will be realized – a day when the Persian Gulf, as the axis of convergence of the region's Muslim nations, shines on the path of calm, authority and progress."
