Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized the critical role that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has played in safeguarding the security and dignity of the country amid various external threats.

In a message commemorating the anniversary of the establishment of the IRGC on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said that during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression, the IRGC effectively disrupted the enemies’ plots and nefarious ambitions through a decisive, strategic, and victorious response.

He also acknowledged the foresight of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomenei, who envisioned a force that would emerge from the people’s will and protect the nation in its most challenging times.

The president further reflected on the IRGC’s history, highlighting its pivotal role in Iran’s resilience since the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

Describing it metaphorically as a “good, strong tree” providing shade, Pezeshkian articulated how the IRGC has steadfastly contributed to Iran’s independence and national security throughout the years.

Furthermore, he reviewed the IRGC’s impressive record from the inception of the Revolution to the present day, underscoring its contributions during the Iran-Iraq war and in the face of numerous internal and external threats.

Pezeshkian also pointed out that the IRGC’s unwavering faith, courage, and initiative have allowed it to disrupt enemy strategies and act as a "fortifying shield" for the Islamic Revolution’s ideals.

In his message, Pezeshkian emphasized that the recent aggression against Iran represents not just military confrontations but broader ideological battles aimed at destabilizing the Islamic Republic.

“This revolutionary institution, with decisive, intelligent, and victorious responses, has thwarted the conspiracies and sinister goals of the enemies,” he said.

According to Pezeshkian, the unwavering spirit of the Iranian nation and the IRGC’s operational readiness stand as testaments to the country’s resilience against external pressures.

Today, the IRGC has emerged as a pivotal force in safeguarding Iran against various threats and hostilities, he said.

The Iranian president went on to say that the IRGC has evolved into a multifaceted organization responsible for not only military defense but also for economic development and public welfare.

Qalibaf: IRGC sacrifices a 'great medal of honor'

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said the IRGC's struggles in three imposed wars against the Iranian nation and armed insurgencies targeting border and security and cities represent a "great medal of honor" on the chest of the Guards, who have sacrificed to the last drop of blood for the Islamic Republic.

In his message on the occasion, Qalibaf described the IRGC as a source of pride and glory for Iran, saying it is a force that has shown unparalleled sacrifice in protecting the ideological and physical borders of the country.

"The IRGC is one of the distinctions that sets Iran apart from other countries of the world," Qalibaf said. "It is a blessed tree rooted in the soil of this land, whose branches are the people, in whose flesh, skin and blood the protection of dear Iran flows."

He added that the IRGC is present in natural disasters, construction efforts and cultural arenas just as it is on the battlefield, and rushes to protect Iran and the revolution wherever their names are invoked.

Qalibaf noted that the might of the IRGC's men and women has now crossed from the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea and from the eastern desert to the western Zagros, astonishing the world.

He stated that wearing the green uniform of protecting this sacred land and fighting alongside victorious martyrs and proud commanders has always been with him, and that he takes pride in still considering himself a small member of the corps.

Qalibaf quoted the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomenei as saying: "If the IRGC did not exist, neither would the country."
