Iran's permanent representative to the international organizations in Geneva, Ali Bahraini, has denounced the use of autonomous killer systems by the US and Israel against Iranian civilians during the ongoing military aggression.
He asserted that the use of such weaponry constitutes a grave "war crime" and a blatant, undeniable violation of established international law.
Speaking at the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) on Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems (LAWS) summit in Geneva on Wednesday, Bahraini highlighted that the intentional application of autonomous killer systems, like the extensive use of MQ-9 Reaper and LUCAS drones by the United States and the Israeli regime on unarmed individuals and non-military structured marks a flagrant breach of international principles.
He pointed to the indiscriminate attacks against civilians, stating that the massacre of 160 schoolgirls in the southern Iranian city of Minab serves as a shocking example of the fallout of the ongoing US-Israeli war of aggression.
The senior Iranian diplomat also called on the international community, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gueterres and the UN Security Council to not remain silent over such atrocities, and own their responsibilities to restore global peace and security.
The United States and the Israeli regime launched a war of aggression against Iran on Saturday morning by assassinating the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and many high-ranking military commanders.
The aggression began while indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington over Iran's peaceful nuclear program were underway.
Within the framework of the legitimate response, Iranian Armed Forces immediately launched massive missile and drone strikes on American bases across West Asia and strategic sites in the Israeli-occupied territories.
