Hezbollah has struck a military target in the city of Haifa in the occupied territories with a rocket barrage and a drone swarm in retaliation for the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei by the United States and the Israeli regime.

In a statement on Monday, the Lebanese resistance movement said the operation was carried out “in retaliation for the pure blood of the Guardian of the Muslims, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which was unjustly and treacherously shed by the criminal Zionist enemy, and in defense of Lebanon and its people."

It identified the target as “the Mishmar HaCarmel missile site belonging to the Israeli enemy army south of occupied Haifa,” saying the target was hit at midnight between Sunday and Monday.

The movement noted that the leadership of the resistance had always affirmed that continuation of Israeli acts of aggression and "assassination of our leaders, youth, and people grant us the right to defend and to respond at the appropriate time and place."

The strike followed Ayatollah Khamenei's martyrdom on Saturday during renewed unprovoked aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against the Islamic Republic. The atrocity targeted Ayatollah Khamenei's office in the Iranian capital Tehran.

Shortly after the launch of the fresh aggression, the Islamic Republic began to retaliate by launching at least eight waves of decisive missile and drone counterattacks against numerous American and Israeli targets throughout the West Asia region. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has vowed to sustain the reprisal until the enemies' "complete defeat."

The operation carried out by Hezbollah also followed the regime's successive violations of a ceasefire agreement between Tel Aviv and the movement that was signed in 2024, through which the regime supposedly pledged to cease its renewed wholesale attacks on the Lebanese soil.

Reflecting on the operation's aim of avenging Lebanon over Israeli atrocities, Hezbollah said, “This response is a legitimate defensive response, and those responsible and concerned must put an end to the Israeli-American aggression against Lebanon."
