Iran-US nuclear talks

Iran’s foreign minister says diplomacy is the only path for the United States if it seeks a solution regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. In an interview with CBS news outlet, Abbas Araghchi said there is still a strong chance for a diplomatic agreement, describing a win-win outcome as achievable. Araghchi said he may meet again with the the US envoy in Geneva on Thursday. He stressed that there is no need for any military buildup, adding that increased pressure or military threats will not force Iran to change its course. Iran’s top diplomat stressed that uranium enrichment remains a central issue in the talks. Araghchi said Iran has paid a heavy price over the years for its nuclear program including two decades of sanctions, the loss of nuclear scientists, and even war, making the issue one of national dignity that Iran will not abandon.

Displaced families in Gaza are forced to walk long distances to get water while fasting, amid the ongoing water crisis. Israel’s genocidal war has destroyed Gaza’s water resources and therefore access to clean drinking water is a struggle during the holy month of Ramadan.

Mar-a-Lago shooting

The US Secret Service says its agents have shot dead a man who was attempting to enter President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to the Secret Service, the suspect, who was in his twenties, was trying to unlawfully breach a secured perimeter around the property. Agents said he was carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can at the time of the incident. Authorities say the man’s background, actions, and possible motive are under investigation. Trump, who frequently spends weekends at the resort, was at the White House when the incident occurred. The attack comes as the United States is facing a spike in political violence. In 2024, Trump faced two assassination attempts, including one at his golf course in West Palm Beach.
