Israel West Bank land grab

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned Israel’s recent decision to seize vast areas of the occupied West Bank and designate them as the so-called state property. The ministry’s spokesman described the move as an extension of the regime’s policy of genocide against Palestinians, and in line with its colonial plan to annihilate Palestine. Esmaeil Baghaei noted that the international community and all UN members are responsible to confront this situation and end the regime's impunity. He cited the vociferous condemnation of the regime’s illegal and criminal move by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the majority of countries. Baghaei emphasized that the UN must take decisive and effective action to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities regarding Israel’s continued violations of Palestinians’ rights, especially their right to life and self-determination. His remarks came after more than eighty UN members and international organizations denounced the regime’s decision as a violation of international law, stressing that it must be reversed immediately.

Epstein files fallout

A group of UN experts has expressed deep concern over the scale of crimes committed by the late US sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. They said crimes outlined in Epstein documents were committed against a backdrop of supremacist beliefs, racism, corruption and extreme misogyny. The experts said the scale, nature, systematic character, and transnational reach of the atrocities committed against women and girls were so grave that some may meet the legal threshold for crimes against humanity. They added that Epstein files suggest the existence of a "global criminal enterprise." The experts called for an independent, thorough, and impartial investigation into the files, to clarify how it was possible for such crimes to be committed for so long. Epstein, who was found dead in prison in 20-19, was later revealed to have had ties to numerous prominent figures in politics, finance, academia, and business. In 2008, he pleaded guilty to prostitution charges, including soliciting an underage girl.

Trump facing new lawsuit

A coalition of environmental and health groups has filed a lawsuit against the US President Donald Trump’s administration for repealing a key scientific finding that underpinned federal climate regulations. The case, which has been filed with a Washington appeals court, was brought by a broad coalition of groups, including the American Lung Association, the Clean Air Council, and the Union of Concerned Scientists. It argues that Trump's move to eliminate greenhouse gas standards on automobiles, and place a host of additional rules in jeopardy, is illegal. One of the attorneys said the lawsuit seeks to stop the Trump administration from torching children’s future in favor of a monster handout to oil companies. The case argued that nobody, but Big Oil, profits from Trump trashing climate science, and making cars and trucks fill up skies and oceans with more pollution. The coalition stressed that the Trump administration's justifications for the repeal do not hold water and have already been rejected multiple times.
