Iran’s Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref says the recent riots in the country marked the second phase of the Israeli regime’s war against the Iranian nation after the 12-day war in June.
Speaking at an economic session of the government on Monday, Aref stressed the need to distinguish between protest and riots, adding that the government recognizes and accepts “protest and criticism.”
He added that enemies targeted every economic plan that Iran started to implement, adding that their plots destabilized the market inside the country.
The enemies made a mistake by beginning the riots through their key agents who were arrested by Iran’s security forces, the vice president noted.
Therefore, he explained, the enemies had no option but to accelerate their plots, which led to the violent incidents in the last few nights.
Aref said the Iranian people’s vigilance foiled the enemies’ plots, adding, “Their constant and epic presence will put an end to the case of this conspiracy.”
However, the enemies will fail to realize their vicious acts and strategic plot to overthrow the Islamic Republic, Aref warned, stressing the importance of determining the reasons behind such incidents to prevent their recurrence.
The vice president said some Iranians were deceived by promises offered by foreign spy services, particularly the Israeli regime, calling on responsible bodies, the elites, and youths to remain vigilant.
Aref urged Iranian officials to pursue precise plans so that the enemies will not dare repeat such incidents in the future.
What began as peaceful protests last month gradually turned violent, as rioters rampaged through cities across the country, killing security forces and attacking public infrastructure.
Iranian officials have linked the riots and terrorist acts to the US and the Israeli regime, with President Masoud Pezeshkian saying that armed rioters were trained by the US and Israeli spy agencies.
