Slamming Israel's settlement expansion

The Hamas resistance movement has lashed out at the Israeli finance minister over approving the construction of a new settlement in the occupied al-Quds, warning that the move is a dangerous escalation in the regime’s annexation project. Hamas said the approval of building thousands of settler units by Bezalel Smotrich is another crime and violation of international law, added to the record of the colonial occupier regime. The Palestinian movement called the plan as part of a systematic policy aimed at the Judaization of the occupied al-Quds. Hamas warned that expanding the settlements would fuel tensions and instability. It added that the Israeli regime must be held fully responsible for the repercussions of such steps. Earlier, the far-right Israeli minister approved a new settlement plan comprising 3,600 units to be built on occupied Palestinian land. Israeli media said Smotrich described the project as another step in halting the idea of establishing a Palestinian state.

Condemning Quran Desecration

Thousands of people have taken to the streets across Yemen to reaffirm solidarity with Palestinians and condemn the recent desecration of the holy Quran in the US. The demonstrations were staged in several cities, including in Sa’ada and the capital Sana’a, where people held copies of the holy Quran. They denounced a blasphemous move against the holy book that took place by a far-right Republican Senate candidate in the US state of Florida during an anti-Islam rally. The desecration drew widespread condemnations from Muslims around the world.

Russia-Ukraine war

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin says that his country has already accepted some compromises in a US-proposed deal, and now the responsibility for progress rests with Ukraine and its Western backers. Putin said in his annual press conference on Friday that Moscow does not believe Ukraine is ready for peace talks. While expressing willingness for a peaceful settlement, the Russian president voiced confidence that the Kremlin’s military objectives will be achieved as well. He said Russian forces are advancing across the entire front line, listing several towns and villages that Russian troops are close to capturing, including in eastern Donetsk. Earlier this week, Putin had warned that Russia would seek to extend its gains in Ukraine if Kiev and its Western allies reject its demands, which include territorial concessions. Russia also wants Ukraine to give up its bid to join NATO.
