Hamas says the latest deaths of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails amount to “further evidence of the systematic crimes” committed by the Zionist regime.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Palestinian resistance movement said the announcement of the death of the trio inside the Israeli prisons represents "a new evidence of the scale of systematic crimes committed by the occupation against heroic prisoners."
Hamas warned Israel over the systematic killing and torture of Palestinian detainees.
“It underscores the brutality of the prison administration’s torture, medical neglect, and punitive policies, all part of a deliberate and official policy of killing carried out with impunity, far removed from any international oversight or accountability,” the statement read.
Hamas stated that the Israeli authorities must “immediately disclose the fate of the forcibly disappeared prisoners, release the bodies of the martyrs it is holding, and ensure that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes are held accountable.”
Media outlets quoting Palestinian prisoner rights groups recently reported that three Palestinian men died in Israeli detention.
The victims included Taysir Saeed al-Abd Sababa, 60; Khamis Shukri Mar’i Ashour, 44, and Khalil Ahmad Khalil Haniyeh, 35 – all from the besieged Palestinian territory.
The resistance group also urged the United Nations, international rights organizations, and the global community to pressure Israel into halting these abuses and ensuring detainees’ rights under international law.
“We call upon the UN and rights and humanitarian groups to exercise their responsibilities, open an international investigation into the occupation's crimes against prisoners, including the cases of field executions and torture that claimed the lives of dozens inside interrogation rooms, and exert all possible pressure to stop these crimes that blatantly disregard all norms and laws,” Hamas said.
Israel has launched a widespread arrest campaign in the shadow of its brutal war of aggression against the people of Gaza, often holding detainees without charge or trial for indefinite periods of time.
Rights groups have accused the occupied entity of widespread torture and other ill-treatment.
Since the start of the occupying regime’s brutal aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip in October 2023, dozens of Palestinian detainees have been killed and many more subjected to brutal mistreatment as part of an organized campaign of repression.
According to Hamas, about 100 Palestinians have died while in Israeli custody since October 2023, with survivors and human rights groups reporting shocking abuses with details, including severe beatings, scalding with boiling water, dog attacks, sexual violence, as well as denial of food, sleep, and medical care.
Current estimates suggest more than 10,000 Palestinians, including women and children, are being held in Israeli prisons.
Israel has killed more than 70,000 Palestinians and wounded at least 170,000 others in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, when it launched its brutal war on the blockaded territory.
