Soon after the arrival of APEC leaders to the summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, the pushback against US President Donald Trump's tariff and trade policies began.

The promotion of open markets and criticism of protectionism was the focus.

We all stand at a critical turning point amid a rapidly shifting international order.

The free trade system is undergoing turbulent change, deepening global economic uncertainty, and, weakening the momentum for trade and investment.

Lee Jae Myung was not alone in attacking US trade policies and called for greater cooperation in order to overcome them.

The 21 APEC leaders seemed intent on expressing their frustration with the United States and President Donald Trump's tariff extortion, protectionist trade policies.
