Israeli forces kill Palestinian youth, injure minor amid raids across occupied West Bank

Deceased young Palestinian man Mohammad Bassam Tayaha Sha'our

Israeli forces have shot dead a young Palestinian man and wounded a teenager in separate raids across the occupied West Bank, as the regime’s ongoing assaults on civilians continue despite a fragile ceasefire in war-ravaged Gaza.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA, citing local security sources, reported that Israeli soldiers stormed the town of ad-Dhahiriya on Sunday evening and opened fire on a young man at the Meitar crossing, killing him instantly.

The sources added that the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) paramedics transferred the victim’s body to Dura Governmental Hospital.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health later identified the deceased Palestinian man as 20-year-old Mohammad Bassam Tayaha Sha’our.

Additionally, a minor was injured by the Israeli army's gunfire during a raid on the town of Turmus Ayya.

Local sources told WAFA that Israeli occupation forces stormed the town in the evening, deployed in its streets, and fired rubber-coated metal bullets at a 14-year-old teenager as he was returning home, injuring him in the foot.

The sources added that Israeli troops severely beat the minor after he was injured, causing him bruises. He is reported to be in a stable condition now.

Elsewhere, in the town of al-Ram, PRCS medics responded to a young man who had been shot in the foot with live ammunition near the controversial separation wall.

Israeli occupation forces also raided Kafr Malik town, northeast of Ramallah, on Sunday evening, and were deployed in several neighborhoods.

Moreover, Israeli troops stormed the Ras al-Amud neighborhood of the city of Nablus, firing sound bombs and tear gas.

The West Bank has been under Israeli military occupation since 1967.

As of the end of 2024, approximately 770,000 Israeli settlers lived in the West Bank, across 180 settlements and 256 outposts – including 138 classified as agricultural or pastoral, according to Palestinian reports.

Since October 2023, after the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza, the regime’s military has intensified daily raids and mass arrests across the West Bank, notably in the northern cities, where Israeli bulldozers have razed entire residential areas, expelling at least 40,000 people.

Israeli data show settlers staged 414 attacks against the Palestinians in the West Bank in the first half of 2025, up 30% from 2024.

Over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in the West Bank by Israeli forces and settlers since October 2023.

In July 2024, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds.
