24th anniversary of 9/11 attacks

The United States marks the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks amid political tensions.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed in attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon Headquarters. After two decades of 9/11 attacks, trillions have been spent and millions displaced across West Asia and elsewhere.

The US so-called war on terror has left a trail of civilian deaths and destroyed nations by endless military engagements, killing a million people in Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen.

Critics say war on terror empowered terror groups and destabilized West Asia, eroding trust in the US.

This episode of Spotlight looks at the September 11 aftermath and its impact on the US West Asia policy and the regional stability of West Asia.
