Israel Gaza onslaught
Israel has intensified its genocidal war in Gaza as the regime’s tanks are advancing towards Gaza City. The Israeli military has openly declared its intent to seize Gaza City, stating that residents will be “inevitably” displaced. On the city's outskirts, Israeli shelling has struck residential areas, injuring several civilians and forcing many to flee. Meanwhile, attacks persist across the aid-deprived territory. Since dawn, at least 37 Palestinians have been killed, including four aid-seekers. According to Gaza health ministry the death toll from the Israeli genocide which began in October 2023 has now reached nearly 62,900.
IAEA-Iran relations
Iran’s foreign minister says International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors are in Iran to oversee the fuel replacement process at the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Abbas Araghchi said this has been authorized by the country's Supreme National Security Council. He emphasized that, under Iranian law passed by the country’s Parliament, all cooperation with the IAEA is subject to approval by the Council. Regarding the potential finalization of a new cooperation agreement between Iran and the IAEA, Araghchi clarified that no text has been finalized yet. Iran has passed a law suspending cooperation with IAEA in response to the US strikes on its nuclear facilities.
US Venezuela threats
Venezuela deploys warships and drones to patrol the country's coastline after the United States dispatched three destroyers to the region. Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino announced a significant increase in drone deployment as well as naval patrols along the country's Caribbean coast. The move comes amid escalating tensions with Washington which sent three warships and 4,000 Marines towards Venezuela last week under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking. President Nicolás Maduro condemned the US military presence, calling attempts to impose regime change illegal and a threat to regional stability. Maduro argued the US deployment violates international law and the UN Charter. Meanwhile, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reaffirmed Mexico’s opposition to interventionism.
