Yemenis stage nationwide rallies in solidarity with Gaza

Yemenis take part in a pro-Gaza rally in the capital Sana'a on August 8, 2025.

Yemenis have staged fresh demonstrations to reaffirm their unwavering support for Palestinians and to condemn Israel’s ongoing genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

On Friday, large crowds rallied in the capital Sana’a and across several provinces, including Hudaydah, Sa’ada, Hajjah, al-Jawf, Raymah, Dhamar, Lahij, Ma’rib, and Dhale. The demonstrations were held under the slogan, “We stand firm with Gaza, with high preparedness to confront all the enemies’ plots.”

The protesters slammed the US-backed Israeli war in Gaza, and reaffirmed their support for Yemen’s pro-Palestine military operations.

Besides the Yemeni and Palestinian flags, the protesters were also carrying the flag of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, amid US attempts to disarm it.

Chanting “Whoever calls for disarmament is seeking invasion,” the protesters noted that the plan “serves the war criminals,” in an apparent reference to the US and Israel.

This came as Lebanon's government on Thursday approved a US proposal that would see the disarmament of Hezbollah.

Protesters reiterated their calls for Arab and Muslim nations to break their silence on Israeli atrocities and take decisive action “before it is too late.” They also denounced certain Arab regimes as “agents,” accusing them of publicly aligning with the Israeli enemy and enabling its crimes through their complicity.

Every week, Yemenis have been staging mass protests across the country to decry the Israeli atrocities in Gaza, and to reiterate their support for the country’s retaliatory operations.

Since the onset of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, Yemen's forces have carried out scores of operations in support of the war-hit Gazans, striking targets throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to targeting Israeli ships or vessels heading towards ports in the occupied territories.

Israel launched a genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the regime's decades-long campaign of death and devastation against Palestinians.

The regime’s bloody onslaught on Gaza has killed more than 61,258 Palestinians and injured 152,045 others, mostly children and women.
