In Paris, thousands have marched from Republique to Bastille to denounce the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip and to demand an end to the humanitarian blockade imposed by Israel.

A pretty strong turnout despite the summer holidays; united under one demand: an end to impunity and immediate sanctions against the Israeli regime.

We were stopped just a few hours off the Palestinian coast of Gaza. We were supposed to arrive Sunday at 5 a.m. we were intercepted Saturday at 10 p.m. by a dozen boats.

They came in heavily armed. There were 40 of them on our boat at once, using small crafts. We were only 21 people.

They wanted to do their usual propaganda. They filmed us constantly. They offered us water and food. We refused everything the whole time we were held in Israel.

We refused to be fed by an army that is starving children, in solidarity with the Palestinian people, we obviously didn't eat or drink during that time.

Emma Fourreau, MEP

Officially there are over 60,000 dead, but if you look under the rubble, it's probably more like 100,000 or even 250,000. What's happening is horrific. International Law is being trampled.

Francois, Marchons Pour Palestine Association

While Gaza faces an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, grassroots mobilization in France remains strong.

Despite the scorching summer and the absence of major political figures, citizens associations and elected officials, such as Emma Fourreau, continue to denounce war crimes and demand concrete, immediate sanctions; far from the empty diplomatic promises.

France to recognize Palestinian state at UN General Assembly

The French people refuse to be complicit.

What we demand are immediate sanctions against the criminal, genocidal state, an end to arms deliveries, suspension of diplomatic relations, cancelation of trade, cultural, economic and sports agreements.

A vague promise of recognition in September won't change anything.

Omar Al Soumi, Urgence Palestine

The demonstration ended peacefully, but the anger remains.

Protesters vowed to keep marching week after week, as long as Gaza remains under siege and the international community remains silent. For them, there can be no neutrality in the face of genocide.
