US-Israeli aggression against Iran
Iran’s foreign minister says the international community and the UN Security Council must hold the US and Israel accountable for their recent aggression against Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Abbas Araghchi made the comment in a phone call with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide. He said the aggression against Iran was a blatant violation of the UN Charter and the compelling rules of international law. He stressed that strikes on Iran by the US and Israel, amid indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington, dealt a drastic blow to diplomacy. Araghchi also criticized positions taken by some European countries and the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency in support of the aggressions and their failure to condemn strikes on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities. He warned that such a destructive approach could further complicate the situation and hinder the path of diplomacy. Araghchi said Iran's cooperation with the IAEA has been suspended in line with a new law passed by the Parliament and in reaction to unlawful attacks on the country's nuclear facilities by the US and Israel.
Gaza genocide rages on
More Palestinians are massacred by Israeli forces in Gaza, as the regime's military keeps pounding the besieged territory with indiscriminate air and artillery strikes. One of the latest attacks targeted tents of displaced people, west of Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza, killing at least 15 people. An earlier attack east of the city killed 16 Palestinians and injured dozens of others who were waiting for aid trucks. In Rafah, also in the south, seven people were killed, and 30 others wounded following heavy airstrikes northwest of the city. More than a dozen civilians lost their lives in airstrikes targeting Gaza City and Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. Meanwhile, the regime's air raids and artillery fire pounded eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City, killing five people. A Palestinian football player also succumbed to wounds he sustained in a previous strike on his home in the Maghazi refugee camp. The death toll from the Israeli genocide now stands at 57,130, with more than 135,170 others injured.
Gaza humanitarian crisis
The UN chief is appalled by the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. That’s according to his spokesman. Stephane Dujarric said multiple attacks in recent days have killed and injured scores of Palestinians at sites hosting displaced people and others attempting to access essential supplies. He added that with no fuel having entered Gaza in over 17 weeks, the last lifelines for survival are being cut off. Dujarric stressed that without an urgent influx of fuel, incubators would shut down, ambulances will be unable to reach the injured and sick, and water cannot be purified. He also touched on Israel's evacuation orders for large parts of Gaza. The UN spokesman said since the ceasefire collapsed, over 50 such orders have been issued, now covering 85 percent of Gaza’s territory. He said the remaining areas, where civilians can actually stay, are overcrowded and severely lacking in services or proper infrastructure.
