Russia exits Ukraine grain deal

The Kremlin has announced on 17 July that it notified Turkey, the UN, and Ukraine that Russia currently stands against the renewal and extension of the UN-brokered Black Sea grain agreement.

Moscow had been considering withdrawing from the deal for months, given that several demands to dispatch its grain and fertilizer had yet to be met. The termination of the unprecedented wartime agreement will deprive hunger-stricken parts of the world of receiving the vital crop.
