Russia warns Israel its arms to Ukraine would be ‘legitimate targets’

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova

Russia has warned the Israeli regime against supplying weapons to Ukraine after the regime's premier Benjamin Netanyahu said he was considering military assistance for Kiev.

“We say that all countries that supply weapons (to Ukraine) should understand that we will consider these (weapons) to be legitimate targets for Russia’s armed forces,” Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters on Wednesday.

Netanyahu said in an interview aired Tuesday that he was considering sending military aid to Ukraine, much to the chagrin of the Kremlin.

The United States has recently called for more active involvement of Israel in the protracted conflict. The regime could provide assistance to Ukraine such as the US-backed technology of the Iron Dome.

Russia has repeatedly condemned Israeli missile attacks on Damascus and elsewhere across the Arab country, and their relationship is likely to develop more strains amid new developments.

Russia denounces Macron’s comments on fighter jet deliveries

Zakharova also criticized comments by French President Emmanuel Macron, who refused this week to rule out delivering fighter jets to Ukraine.

"Forgive me but this is absurd," she said. "Is the president of France really certain that if arms, heavy weapons and aircraft are supplied to the Kiev regime to conduct combat operations, this will not lead to an escalation of the situation?" she said.

"I refuse to believe that an adult person is guided by this kind of logic."

Zakharova further said that such statements "only increase the already irrepressible appetite of the Zelensky regime," referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

On Monday, Macron said he would not rule out the delivery of fighter jets to Ukraine, telling Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in the Netherlands, "Nothing is excluded in principle."

France has sent Ukraine air-defense systems, rocket launcher units, cannons and other military equipment and has pledged to send armored surveillance and combat vehicles.

Russia recently said it obtained documents that reveal US-funded laboratories in Ukraine have been creating biological weapons components and testing them on the population of the country.

The Russian defense ministry said that a few months into Moscow's military campaign in Ukraine, Russian troops began compiling data related to the role and functions of US biolabs in the country.

Russia launched what it calls "a special military operation" in Ukraine on February 22, 2022, over the perceived threat of the ex-Soviet republic joining NATO.

Since then, the United States and Ukraine's other allies, including the UK, have sent Kiev tens of billions of dollars worth of weapons, including rocket systems, drones, armored vehicles, tanks, and communication systems.

Western countries have also imposed a slew of economic sanctions on Moscow.

The Kremlin has time and again warned that sanctions and Western military assistance to Ukraine will only prolong the war.
