Over 16 million Yemenis need humanitarian assistance

The ongoing Saudi war and siege have had a significant impact on worsening the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. In a recent report, the World Food Program warns that more than 16 million Yemenis are food insecure, with over 5 million being on the brink of famine.
WFP says malnutrition rates among Yemeni women and children remain as one of the highest in the world, with 1.2 million women and 2.3 million children in need of treatment for acute malnutrition. 400.000 of these children are in danger of dying if they do not receive treatment.
Saudi Arabia has maintained an all-out blockade on Yemen throughout the seven years of its deadly war against the country.
Since 2015, millions of Yemenis have been living under what the United Nations describes as the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
Observers say famine can still be prevented if the international community takes serious action to save the lives of millions of Yemenis. However, they believe that the United Nations is exploiting the suffering of Yemenis during the war only to raise more funds.
