US President Joe Biden hosted South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the White House Friday where the two leaders confirmed their alliance and common approach to North Korea.

President Moon made no secret of his desire to see the US and North Korea engaged in talks. Meanwhile in South Korea, a 2-day live and online conference brought together 100 experts to discuss how to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula.

US President Joe Biden has admitted that previous American policies toward North Korea and denuclearization had failed, but his administration has been hesitant to provide specifics about its new policy. Here at the DMZ forum there was no shortage of detailed suggestions calling for a peace first approach.

The central theme involved ideas to develop the border areas along the heavily fortified DMZ, the demilitarized zone, separating the two Koreas. Panelists also discussed security issues with several speakers suggesting compromise would be required from North Korea on denuclearization and from the United States on sanctions relief for DMZ peace plans to move forward.
