Iran warning
A senior Iranian security official has warned that any new act of aggression against the country will trigger an immediate, unlimited, and devastating response. Speaking to Press TV, the high-ranking official stressed that Iran will impose no geographical, temporal, or target-related limitations on its right to self-defense. The official also warned regional countries against assisting the aggressors in any hostile action against Iran, saying any form of cooperation will make them legitimate targets of Iran's defensive operations. The high-ranking official said Washington and Tel Aviv continue to issue threats in an effort to wage psychological warfare against the Iranian nation. The warning comes days after the leader of the Islamic Revolution issued directives to top Iranian military commanders. Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei said any level of threat must be met with an immediate and effective response with no geographical restrictions.
US MQ-9 drone shot downed
Iran’s Army says it has intercepted and destroyed another US MQ-9 drone over the southern island of Qeshm. In a statement, the Army’s Public Relations Office said the MQ-9 drone was struck by advanced air defense systems operated by the Army’s Air Defense Force. Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps announced that it had intercepted and destroyed a 16th US MQ-1 drone over Qeshm Island, using a new advanced defense system. The IRGC said its forces continue to monitor enemy flight patterns and intelligence activities, stressing that US attempts to alter the regional balance would not succeed. Since the start of the latest US-Israeli aggression on February 28, Iran’s armed forces have intercepted more than 70 American drones. A recent CENTCOM estimate puts US military spending on the aggression at over 47 billion dollars.
Trump's controversial appointment
US congressional Democrats have strongly condemned President Donald Trump’s appointment of a new White House chief of staff. They blame Trump for ignoring voters’ rejection of his administration’s policies in the midterm elections by appointing longtime adviser and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. Senator Chuck Schumer called Miller the architect of the administration’s most inhumane policies, while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries described him as a reckless extremist who has American blood on his hands. While some Republicans have backed the appointment, outgoing Republican Congressman Don Bacon blamed Miller’s immigration policies for costing the party support in the midterms. Miller has played a central role in Trump’s hardline immigration policy, including family separations and mass deportations. The appointment follows the resignation of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles on Thursday, following the Republicans’ defeat in the midterms.
