Polish demonstrators hold evening rally outside constitutional court

Demonstrators gather outside Poland's constitutional court, accusing the government of undermining democracy and the rule of law.

Demonstrators gather outside Poland's constitutional court, accusing the government of undermining democracy and the rule of law amid an escalating dispute over judicial independence.

"The situation Poland finds itself in today is very, very bad, very dangerous," says former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, calling for a vote of no confidence and a "reset" of the Constitutional Tribunal.

The row over appointing the court's judges has spawned a constitutional crisis in the EU country, where a centrist government is vying with a nationalist head of state and opposition.
