Iran warning
Iran’s top negotiator says the country will deliver a response beyond imagination to any violation against the country’s territorial integrity. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf added that the United States must change its behavior, stop coercion and excessive demands, and make tangible compensation for the commitments it has violated. Until then, he added, US claims are not credible for Iran. Ghalibaf, who’s the Iranian parliament speaker, also said Washington mistakenly believes media pressure and military threats can force Iran to surrender, adding that Iran will never allow this to happen.
Israel West Bank closure
The Israeli regime has raised its security alert to maximum and has deployed tens of thousands of soldiers ahead of the Knesset elections on Tuesday. Around 7.3 million Israelis are eligible to vote in the first election since October 7, 2023, described as the most fateful in the entity's history. Polls show former military chief Gadi Eisenkot marginally ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud, amid deep social and political divisions. Meanwhile, the IOF has imposed a total closure of the occupied West Bank on Election Day. Regime forces have sealed off al-Khalil's entrances, forcibly displacing around 2,500 people.
Brazil runoff vote
Brazilians head to the polls in a closely contested runoff race between incumbent president Lula da Silva and right-wing Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, with both candidates having cast their votes. After voting in Sao Paulo, Lula said voters were choosing between a candidate who defends the Brazilian flag and one who prefers the US flag, referring to his right-wing challenger. Bolsonaro also cast his ballot earlier in Rio de Janeiro. The latest polls have shown a tight race between the two contenders. Voters are focused on the cost of living, food prices, public security and corruption. Lula has promised social support and debt relief while Bolsonaro has pledged tougher crime policies, closer relation with US and Israel as well as a pardon for his father who is imprisoned for corruption and plotting a coup.
