Brazilians head to the polls in a closely contested runoff race between incumbent president Lula da Silva and right-wing Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, with both candidates having cast their votes.
After voting in Sao Paulo, Lula said voters were choosing between a candidate who defends the Brazilian flag and one who prefers the US flag, referring to his right-wing challenger. Bolsonaro also cast his ballot earlier in Rio de Janeiro.
The latest polls have shown a tight race between the two contenders. Voters are focused on the cost of living, food prices, public security and corruption, with Lula promising social support and debt relief.
