Iran response to aggression
New photos and videos released by American media outlets have revealed extensive damage to American military bases in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, the UAE, and Bahrain as a result of Iran's retaliatory strikes. According to MeidasTouch and VALOR Media Network, the photos and videos have been provided by American service members, contractors, and military families. They give a firsthand and never-seen-before account of the havoc wreaked by Iran's missile and drone strikes on American bases in the region. They show destroyed aircraft, bombed-out barracks and mess halls, troops digging their own foxholes, and military families hiding in parking garages while Iranian missiles flew overhead. Images show how Iranian strikes damaged AWACS and tanker planes in Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan Air Base, while badly damaging F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, MQ-9 drones, helicopters, and critical infrastructure in Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base. The report also cited anonymous sources as saying that American servicemen, contractors, and their families have been repeatedly threatened with disciplinary action for speaking out or sharing images.
US-Israeli Iran aggression
Iran has slammed some countries’ efforts to reduce the all-out US-Israeli aggression to a simple conflict, saying such efforts are aimed at exonerating the aggressors of their responsibility for initiating the aggression. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman made the remark in a social media post in reaction to the phrase “Iran conflict” used by some countries, including in a recent statement by France and Qatar. Esmaeil Baqaei said there is no such thing as an “Iran conflict,” but an unlawful "war of aggression" waged by the US and Israel against Iran. He stressed that refusing to call aggression by its name is not neutrality; it is moral evasion. Baqaei said those who lack the courage to identify the aggressor and name the aggression, also lack the moral courage to confront injustice, propose workable solutions, or contribute meaningfully to peace. He added that peace cannot be built by appeasing aggressors, legitimizing aggression, condemning the victim, or sacrificing fundamental principles. Baqaei said calling the US-Israeli aggression a conflict is not neutrality, but a distortion disguised as impartiality.
France anti-government protests
French authorities have imposed new bans on anti-government protests across the country, prohibiting all forms of demonstrations in several cities, including in France's second-largest city. Officials in the city of Marseille banned all protests and public transport on Saturday. Hours earlier, the authorities declared a ban on "all protests" in the southeastern city of Lyon, which saw the looting of hundreds of shops last weekend and the torching of a tourist office. Several other cities issued bans on protests in their city centers. The new bans came after French police prohibited demonstrations in key areas of Paris on Thursday. France's culture ministry announced that several Paris museums, including the Louver, would be closed as officials fear more looting on the margins of a new round of protests. The ministry added that Orsay and Picasso museums are among the other venues affected. The government has admitted that police lost control, with some French presidential candidates arguing that authorities are incapable or unwilling to calm the situation.
