Italian farmers rallied outside in Rome on Tuesday, warning that soaring production costs and low prices for their produce have led to the seizure of agricultural businesses.

Footage shows protesters waving flags of the Italian Farmers' Confederation (CIA) and holding signs reading '100% Made in Italy, 0% Future', 'Agricultural up up 40% - we've had had about this crap' and '€1.05 at the farm, €2.82 on the shelf shop '. They don't add up.

“The huge paradox is that between the prices we and the supermarket shelf there is a huge markup of 300 to 400 percent. Consumers end up spending enormous amounts of money, with little or none of it reaching us," she lamented.
