Housing crisis protesters camped out in Rossio Square, in the historic centre of Lisbon, are spending their third night awaiting possible eviction by police.
Around a hundred tents are now set up in the square, with more people joining the encampment, according to Adriana Lima, spokesperson for the Acampada movement. "Support for our movement is growing every day," she said, adding that protesters would "continue to resist until the government responds to our demands."
The protesters accuse the government of failing to act to tackle the housing crisis and trying to push through rental market reforms making tenant eviction easier.
