Rejectiong UK accusations
Iran has strongly condemned British officials' claim about Tehran’s role in the alleged security incident at Fairford Air Base, calling it an ugly conspiracy to advance London's Iranophobia campaign. Iran's Foreign Ministry said London’s claim is also an effort to evade accountability for Britain's role in the US-Israeli aggression against Iran. It noted that the British government cannot shirk political and legal responsibility for its claims and their possible consequences by resorting to vague phrases without providing solid evidence. The statement said the UK has a track record of fabricating security claims against other countries, which in some cases have led to tensions and conflicts in the West Asian region. The ministry added that the British government and masterminds of this clumsy false-flag operation are responsible for all the consequences of this baseless accusation. Iran's ambassador to the UK also categorically rejected London’s accusations, calling on the British government to present evidence supporting those accusations. Ali Mousavi said Iran is ready to cooperate with British authorities in investigating the issue.
Saudi drone shut down
The Yemeni armed forces have shot down a Saudi drone over northern Yemen, as the country has carried retaliatory attacks on Saudi targets. Army spokesman Yahya Saree said the drone, named Wing Loong, two was carrying out hostile missions when it was targeted. Saree earlier said the country’s armed forces launched a precise strike on King Khalid International Airport with a ballistic missile. He added that the second operation targeted Saudi Arabia’s Khamis Mushait Air Base with a drone. Saree also renewed his warning to all international airlines as well as employees, workers, and travelers from all countries to avoid Saudi airports, declaring them unsafe. He added that the only exceptions are the airports and airspace of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. His warning came after earlier reports indicated that Saudi Arabia has extended the suspension of flights at the Riyadh airport.
ICE raids congresswoman home
Reactions are pouring in after US immigration authorities raided the Washington home of Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar who’s an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the Trump administration for using government power to intimidate political opponents. Mamdani warned that the path to US citizenship should not be weaponized against anyone. He described Omar as a neutralized American who swore an oath to the country. Sanders also said that Trump is weaponzing the federal government to silence opposition, adding that the US president wants to intimidate his political opponents. The congresswoman herself wrote on social media that the raid was an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. Omar is a member of the US House of Representatives from Minnesota’s 5th district. A protest has taken place in the US state in support of her. Participants in the rally held signs reading “Stand with Ilhan” and “Ilhan for Congress”, denouncing the raid that took place several weeks before Midterm elections. The predawn raid on the home of the Somali-born lawmaker reportedly involved an investigation into immigration paperwork completed by Omar’s late father when she was a child. The US President, meanwhile, renewed his attacks on Omar during a political rally in Ohio, making disparaging remarks about Somalia as Trump’s supporters chanted for her deportation.
