Iran warning

Iran’s top security official warns that the US should be prepared for another defeat at the hands of Iran. That’s in reaction to a recent controversial claim by the US Secretary of State. In a social media post, Mohsen Rezaei referred to Iran’s historic victory over the Roman Empire, under Sassanid King Shapur first, saying that history will repeat itself. This was a response to the comment made by Marco Rubio regarding Iran’s civilization, during his visit to Athens some days ago. Iran’s parliament has also reacted to the claim, saying that throughout history, Iranians have faced those who declared themselves masters of the universe and sought to erase ancient civilizations.

The United Nations and the International Criminal Court have slammed the US for imposing sanctions on the ICC.

Spain housing crisis

Protests against the housing crisis in Spain continue unabated. Demonstrators call for a general strike following the death of an 87-year-old woman whose eviction triggered the protests. Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the University of Barcelona, ringing their house keys and holding up lights and candles in tribute to the deceased woman named Maricarmen Abascal. Her death, just two weeks after her eviction, has reignited protests over soaring housing costs. The demonstrators say government must enforce decent wages and affordable homes. The growing crisis has also become a major political issue ahead of next month’s national elections, with protesters demanding urgent action from the government.
