'Iran not afraid of war'
A senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution warns that any new US or Israeli attack could expand the battlefield beyond the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. General Safavi said lasting regional security requires the participation of regional states rather than extra-regional powers. He said Iran and Yemen share common interests and threats, while stressing that Tehran does not seek war but is prepared to respond to any renewed aggression. The top adviser stressed Iran will retain control and management of the Strait of Hormuz allowing vessels from countries such as China to transit the strategic waterway. Meanwhile, Iran’s IRGC Chief Major General Ahmad Vahidi says the Iranian nation does not fear war. He said President Pezeshkian echoed the clear message of the nation at the United Nations for the world to hear it.
Israeli atrocities in Gaza, Lebanon
No end in sight for Israeli attacks in Gaza. Regime forces have been hitting central and southern Gaza since morning, killing several Palestinians and injuring dozens. At least two Palestinians have been killed and nine injured in Israeli attacks in central Gaza. In southern Gaza, a young man was shot dead. An Israeli strike also targeted a vehicle in central Gaza. Earlier, one Palestinian was killed and another injured when an Israeli airstrike hit a vehicle in Deir al-Balah. Israeli fighter jets also struck a group of Palestinians near Haifa School in Khan Younis. The Palestinian Health Ministry says nearly 73,930 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the Israeli war on the Palestinian territory began on October 2023.
Global fuel prices rising
Oil prices climb more than two percent amid uncertainty over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and continued security risks across West Asia. Brent crude, the benchmark for two-thirds of global oil, has surged past 106 dollars a barrel. West Texas Intermediate gained 1.7 percent to exceed 93 dollars per barrel. The US war on Iran has also pushed fuel costs higher at home. US gas prices have risen over 40-percent since Washington and Israel launched their war on Iran, with pump prices now more than a dollar higher than before the first strikes. Meanwhile, diesel costs in the EU have hit a new record at 2.23 Euros per liter, with 19 countries including Germany, France and Italy registering all-time highs. Markets remain mainly focused on the Strait of Hormuz where security risks threaten energy flows, as traders assess reported US discussions on a 90‑day diesel-export ban.
