'Free Press TV reporter'
Press TV has vehemently condemned the abduction of its West Bank correspondent by IOF as an organized, illegal, and aggressive terrorist operation aimed at silencing the truth. In a statement Press TV emphasized that Naqaa Hamed's abduction is a culmination of a continuous and targeted campaign of intimidation against journalists. The statement added the desperate attempt by the Zionists to block the flow of free news in the West Bank is a clear evidence of the occupiers' fear of reporters exposing widespread humanitarian rights violations. Press TV has stressed the IOF is fully and legally responsible for Hamed’s physical and mental well-being. The statement also urges the international community and the United Nations to stop their silence and take immediate measures to stop the forced disappearances of journalists.
53rd MQ-9 drone downed
Iran says it has destroyed the 53rd US MQ-9 drone over Qeshm Island. The drone was destroyed by the advanced air defense systems of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force, operating under the country's integrated air defense network. MQ-9 is a primary unmanned aerial vehicle used for surveillance and targeted strikes. This is the 53rd such drone downed by Iranian forces since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran. According to a Washington Post report, the US military has lost roughly 25 percent of its Reaper drone fleet during the conflict in addition to at least 45 aircraft.
Canada EU membership
Canada has hit back at the United States after president Trump threatened the European Union with heavy tariffs if Canada becomes an associate member of the bloc. This, after the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposed that Canada become the bloc’s first associate member. Trump labeled the move potentially hostile and threatened to stop trading with Europe on "many things while also accusing Canada of being a bad trading partner." The EU has been on the receiving end of Trump’s tariffs over the past year while Canada is already locked in a trade war with the US. Meanwhile, India has warned that new tariffs targeting countries buying Russian oil could affect bilateral ties. US congress has passed a law allowing President Donald Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on countries such as India to curb their purchases of Russian energy. New Delhi stressed it remains committed to securing energy for its 1.4 billion people.
