Iran's Army strikes US radar systems, troop positions across Persian Gulf
Iran’s Army has launched dozens of explosive-drone strikes against US radar systems and troop positions at the Al Dhafra and Al Minhad bases in the UAE, as well as the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain.
In a statement on Wednesday, Iran’s Army announced the attacks were carried out as part of the 30th phase of Operation Thunder.
Dozens of Army-operated explosive drones struck radar systems and locations where US forces were stationed at the Al Dhafra and Al Minhad bases in the UAE, according to the statement.
The statement added that radar facilities and gathering points for US forces at Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base were again hit in heavy attacks carried out by Arash explosive drones.
The Army described Al Dhafra as one of the main US operational centers in the region, saying the base is used for air operations, intelligence, surveillance and logistical support.
“Attacking residential areas and targeting a wedding ceremony by the enemy is a clear example of a war crime and exposes the evil nature of so-called ‘American human rights,’” the Army said.
“The response of the Army’s forces to these crimes will certainly be extensive and far-reaching,” it added.
The latest Iranian strikes followed a series of US attacks on southern Iran, including a missile strike on Wednesday on Khuzestan Province that martyred seven people and wounded eight others in areas around Ahvaz and Aghajari.
A separate US attack on Tuesday on Hormozgan Province hit a wedding celebration, leaving at least five people martyred and 68 others wounded.
Separately, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said its forces had struck the command compound and living quarters of the US commander at Kuwait’s Ali Al-Salem Air Base, as well as drone hangars there.
The Army’s operations are separate from those conducted by the IRGC, with both branches carrying out their own military operations against US and allied targets as part of Iran’s broader response.
The latest round of aggression against Iran began on February 28, when US and Israeli forces launched large-scale strikes on Iranian territory.
Iran’s Armed Forces responded with daily waves of missiles and drones targeting US and Israeli assets across the region, and closed the Strait of Hormuz to US and allied vessels.
On June 17, Iran and the US signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an effort to end the wars across all fronts.
In recent weeks, in violation of the MoU, the US has continued its naval blockade of Iran and struck multiple locations in southern Iran, prompting Tehran to target US military facilities across the region and close the strategic waterway again.
