Iran vows to constantly boost its military capabilities
Iran has vowed to constantly boost its defense and military capabilities as part of efforts to increase deterrence against foreign threats.
Iran's acting defense minister, Brigadier General Majid Ibn Reza, said in a statement issued on Saturday that his ministry would seek to add to Iran's current military capacities by manufacturing more sophisticated equipment and weapons.
Ibn Reza's statement came in response to a recent message by the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, who called on various elements of Iran's administrative government to increase their efforts for the country's self-sufficiency.
The message came as Iran is still in the middle of a military and economic confrontation with the United States, more than six months after the country came under a second round of US-Israeli war of aggression in less than a year.
“The recent imposed wars have shown us that a strong Iran is an Iran that is always ready; an Iran that must constantly enhance its capabilities and be prepared for today's and tomorrow's threats,” Ibn Reza said.
“…we learned that we must not settle for what we have today; we must build power every day, without interruption.”
The acting defense minister said that his department, which is responsible for procurement of equipment and weapons for various branches of the Iranian armed forces, would continue to boost the country's military capabilities in a way that "deters the enemy from any miscalculation or ambition toward Iran."
Experts say Iranian-made military equipment and weapons were key to the country's success in fending off the US-Israeli aggression that began in late February and ended as part of a ceasefire in mid-April.
Iran used its missiles and drones to target US assets in the region, as well as locations controlled by the Israeli regime in the occupied Palestinian territories.
