Qatar de-escalation efforts
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani is paying an official visit to Tehran. Al-Thani held consultations with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi aimed at de-escalating regional tensions and creating conditions for dialogue. According to the Qatari Foreign Ministry, the discussions included a proposed phased framework for establishing a joint, temporary maritime shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz. During the meeting, Al-Thani also emphasized the necessity of respecting neighboring countries’ sovereignty and ensuring freedom of navigation. The Qatari PM is also scheduled to meet with other Iranian officials to exchange views on mediation efforts.
Countering US Iran bans
Moscow will work with Iran and other countries to counter US secondary sanctions on Tehran, and to remove sanction pressure from the international system. The Russian Foreign ministry says Russia firmly rejects unilateral, illegal and coercive measures that violate the UN Charter. Spokesperson Maria Zakharova added that the unlawful use of unilateral sanctions has long become a tool for settling scores and punishing countries the West considers undesirable. Meanwhile, Pakistan has announced it won't consider US sanctions on Iran as enforceable. The spokesman said Pakistan believes Washington’s unilateral measures against Tehran do not comply with international law, offering issues to be resolved through dialogue. China’s Foreign Ministry had already said that US sanctions targeting countries with economic exchanges with Iran have no legal basis in international law or UN Security Council mandate. Washington has announced new sanctions against Iran and warned all countries that they could lose access to US markets if they continue trade with Iran.
Israel Lebanon violations
The Israeli regime conducts fresh airstrikes on south Lebanon in violation of the ceasefire agreement with the Arab country. An Israeli airstrike targeted a residential area in Nabatieh killing one woman and injuring at least six others. Israeli warplanes also launched two waves of airstrikes targeting the Ali al-Taher Hill on the eastern outskirts of Nabatieh, causing powerful explosions. IOF also stormed the outskirts of Kfar Shuba while a helicopter dropped explosives on the southern town of Mansouri. Explosions were also heard in the border town of Meiss al Jabal. Meanwhile, Israeli reconnaissance drones continue to hover over most areas in Lebanon including the capital Beirut. The Tel Aviv regime has killed more than 4,300 Lebanese people since March.
