Slamming US bullying

The Iranian president says the United States must change its tone and approach when dealing with Iran and comply with its commitments under international law. Masoud Pezeshkian made the comment in a meeting with the Chief of the Pakistani Army, Field Marshal Asim Munir. He added that the US reliance on bullying and coercion will only complicate executive processes. Referring to the Iranian nation’s resilience in the face of pressures, Pezeshkian said this resilience is rooted in the country’s national unity. He stressed that the Iranian people will thwart pressures and threats through their solidarity. The Iranian president said the unity and solidarity of Muslim countries is the most important factor that blocks the plots hatched by the Israeli regime and other enemies of Islam. Pezeshkian stressed that Iran is ready for all kinds of cooperation with Muslim and neighboring countries to establish sustainable peace and security in the region. For his part, Munir said Pakistan will continue its mediatory role, and believes that ending the current regional crisis will open a new chapter in regional development and clear the way for the establishment of collective security.

Trump approval at rock bottom

US President Donald Trump's approval has hit a new record low as the public support for the aggression against Iran has fallen to its lowest level since the early days of the war. A new poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos shows that only 31 % of Americans support the war on Iran, down from 37 % in March. The poll results also revealed that Trump's approval among the US public has hit a new low. For the second survey in a row, only 33 % of respondents approved of Trump's performance in the White House, which is the lowest level recorded in his first or second terms. Despite Trump's election promises to control inflation and avoid lengthy military conflicts, six months into the war with Iran, US gasoline prices are more than a dollar higher per gallon than they were before the war. The poll also showed that independent voters now favor Democrats over Republicans when asked who they would vote for in congressional elections if the elections were held today.

US-Canada trade tensions

US Vice President JD Vance says Canada would be vulnerable to foreign invasion without Washington’s protection, as the two countries are locked in trade tensions. Vance also accused Canada of making unreasonable demands in trade negotiations with the US. His remarks came as new 50% US tariffs on about 20-billion $ of Canadian goods took effect several days ago. President Donald Trump has threatened another 50% tariff on Canadian automobiles, auto parts and steel from January 1st, 2027. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says Ottawa is ready to face the challenges of an escalating trade fight with the United States.
